Then select "Audio or Music" to import files to your sound track. In the drop-down menu on top of the screen, make sure that "Imported Media" is selected. Browse through your movies, images, and audio tracks to see which ones you would want to use in your movie. You can preview your movie clips by choosing the click and pressing the "Play" button inside preview window about the right.

Before continuing, make certain that Vista's Windows Movie Maker is "Storyboard" editing mode. If it isn't, click on the arrow around the bottom left from the screen to access the drop-down menu. "Storyboard" editing mode allows you simplify the entire process of adding movies and pictures in your movie from your "Imported Media" window.

Click and drag your images or movie clips for the Storyboard frames. Then click the arrow beside "Storyboard" and select "Timeline" from the drop-down menu. Select each picture or movie segment and drag the edges towards the left or until they're the right length. Under "Edit," click "Transitions." Return to "Storyboard" mode and drag the required transition on the space between movie clips. Click "Effects" and drag the effect you need to each section within the storyboard. The star will appear in the lower left hand corner from the segment to show that an effect has become applied.

Return to "Timeline" mode and after that click and drag your audio track towards the timeline. Make any adjustments you're feeling are necessary to edit the playback quality to match the background music. Select "Tools" and "Narrate timeline" if you want to add a narrative track for a movie. Plug in a directional microphone that works with your computer and click "Start Narration." Watch the "Input level" to make certain that your computer becomes adequate sound levels. Keep in mind that you'll need to merge your music track using the narrative track by dragging one over the other if you wish to use both as well in your movie.

Click "Titles and Credits" to provide titles for the beginning of the movie or stick them before or on selected clips, or to provide credits to the end of the movie. Preview your movie by scrolling back towards the beginning with the moview and pressing the play button inside the preview window. Select "Publish Movie" when you're happy while using preview. Select the place where you want to publish your movie, then click "Next." Select a term for the movie, decide on a location and then click "Next."
